Montesanto Train Station
Silvio D’ascia Architecture
VERNACULAR FUNICULAIR
Surrounded by lively streets and colourful houses, the Montesanto train station of Naples is a beautiful response to the challenges in building in a historic city. Dating from 1889, the revitalised old historic station serves now again as a main transportation hub in the region. It links the Italian train service with the subway and the hill-climbing tram called Funiculair. Neat in its construction, the place does not resist contemporary notion, giving off bright and dated valiance.
