Origin, EDF Regional Headquarters

Location: Napoli, Italy
Set within the dense streets and market life of Naples, Montesanto Train Station shows how a historic transport building can be renewed without losing its identity. Originally dating from 1889, the station was restored and extended by Silvio d’Ascia Architecture, turning it into a busy regional hub where heritage and contemporary infrastructure meet. New glass and steel elements bring light and clarity to the passenger spaces, while the restored façades preserve the building’s civic presence. Platforms, halls, stairs, and waiting areas are folded into the city’s daily rhythm, linking the Cumana and Circumflegrea lines, the nearby metro, and the Montesanto funicular in a setting shaped by movement, noise, and layered urban life.
