Location: Port, Switzerland
Set in a residential neighbourhood in the Swiss village of Port, the school by Skop takes its scale from its surroundings. A folded roof echoes the pitched roofs of nearby houses, the rural history of the region, and the soft profile of the Jura Mountains. Built on a gentle slope, the project uses the topography to organise entrances, playgrounds, and outdoor spaces. Separate access routes follow the daily movement of the children, while the interior brings together classrooms, kindergarten units, workshops, and shared areas for learning. The roof gives the school its distinctive form and also shapes the rooms below, creating varied ceiling heights and flexible spaces for teaching, play, and gathering.
