All photographs and visual works published on this website are protected by copyright, related rights, moral rights and applicable intellectual property laws, including Belgian law and Book XI of the Belgian Code of Economic Law.
The publication of any photograph or image on this website does not constitute a transfer of rights, a licence, an authorisation to use, a waiver of rights, or a release into the public domain.
All photographs remain the exclusive property of Julien Lanoo for the full legal term of copyright protection. No rights are granted by implication, tolerance, access to the website, technical downloading, indexing, referencing, viewing, or sharing a link to the website.
3. No Free Licence
No image published on this website is free of rights.
Unless prior, specific and written authorisation has been granted by Julien Lanoo or Fotosound BV, it is strictly prohibited to copy, download, save, reproduce, publish, print, modify, adapt, crop, retouch, distribute, sell, sublicense, integrate, communicate to the public, transmit, exhibit, project, archive, scrape, index, extract or otherwise exploit any photograph, image or content from this website.
This prohibition applies, without limitation, to any private, professional, editorial, commercial, institutional, architectural, cultural, museum, promotional, advertising, academic, documentary, social media, portfolio, press, publication, competition, tender, presentation, lecture, catalogue, book, brochure, website, newsletter, digital platform or database use.
4. Written Licence Required
Any use of a photograph requires prior, separate and specific written authorisation.
Where a licence is granted, it is strictly limited to the rights expressly stated in the quotation, proposal, licence agreement, invoice or other applicable written agreement. The licence is limited, among other things, by beneficiary, purpose, medium, duration, territory, print run, format, publication context and mode of distribution.
Any use not expressly authorised in writing is prohibited and constitutes unauthorised use.
No licence may be assigned, transferred, shared, resold or sublicensed to any third party without prior written consent. Receiving an image, a file, a layout, a download link or access to a gallery does not transfer any intellectual property right.
5. Payment and Validity of Rights
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, usage rights only become effective after full and timely payment of all amounts due.
In the event of late, partial, disputed or missing payment, no use of the images may be considered validly authorised, unless otherwise agreed in writing by Fotosound BV or Julien Lanoo.
6. Moral Rights, Integrity of the Work and Mandatory Credit
Julien Lanoo retains his moral rights at all times, including the right of authorship and the right to respect for the integrity of the work.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, every authorised use of a photograph must be accompanied by a readable credit placed adjacent to the image, in one of the following forms:

The credit may not be removed, hidden, altered, or attributed to another person. Metadata, copyright notices, captions and author information may not be removed or altered.
It is strictly prohibited to alter the integrity of the photographs, including by cropping, retouching, filtering, recolouring, distorting, recomposing, adding text or graphics, extending the image, animating, montaging, changing the context, digitally manipulating or otherwise transforming the work, unless prior written authorisation has been granted.
7. Statement on Artificial Intelligence, Synthetic Images and Mandatory Disclosure
The photographs presented on this website as photographic works by Julien Lanoo are photographic works created by Julien Lanoo.
No generative artificial intelligence is used to create, replace, extend, recompose, simulate, fabricate or add visual content to the photographs presented as photographic works by Julien Lanoo.
For the purposes of these Terms, “AI-generated content”, “AI-manipulated content”, “synthetic content” and “deep fake” shall include any image, audio or video content generated or manipulated by artificial intelligence that resembles real persons, objects, places, facilities, events, architectural works, interiors, exteriors, construction sites or photographic situations and that could mislead a person into believing that the content is real, authentic or photographically created.
This clause refers in particular to Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 13 June 2024 laying down harmonised rules on artificial intelligence, including Article 3(60) concerning deep fakes and Article 50 concerning transparency obligations for certain AI systems.
From 2 August 2026, Article 50 of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 requires, among other things, that certain AI-generated or AI-manipulated content be disclosed as artificially generated or manipulated. In particular, deployers of an AI system that generates or manipulates image, audio or video content constituting a deep fake must disclose that the content has been artificially generated or manipulated. Providers of AI systems generating synthetic image, audio, video or text content must also ensure, where applicable, that the outputs are marked in a machine-readable format and detectable as artificially generated or manipulated.
Independently of whether such legal transparency obligations are already applicable, any AI-generated, AI-manipulated, synthetic, extended, recomposed, reconstructed, imitated or derivative version of a photograph by Julien Lanoo must be clearly and visibly labelled as artificial, manipulated and unauthorised, unless Julien Lanoo or Fotosound BV has given prior written authorisation.
Any such label must be immediate, visible, legible, unambiguous and placed directly adjacent to the image wherever the image appears. It may not be hidden in metadata, alt text, a separate credit page, a caption list, a footer, a hover state, a terms page or any other location that is not immediately visible to the viewer.
The required disclosure must include wording substantially equivalent to:
“AI-GENERATED / AI-MANIPULATED IMAGE — NOT AN ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPH BY JULIEN LANOO”
or
“SYNTHETIC IMAGE BASED ON OR IMITATING A PHOTOGRAPH BY JULIEN LANOO — NOT AUTHORISED”
No person, publisher, platform, client, architect, designer, institution, agency, AI provider, AI deployer or third party may present, publish, distribute, sell, exhibit, promote or otherwise communicate any AI-generated or AI-manipulated image as an original photograph by Julien Lanoo.
Any use of images from this website for artificial intelligence purposes is strictly prohibited without prior written authorisation. This prohibition includes, without limitation, model training, machine learning, dataset creation, automated analysis, feature extraction, visual indexing, scraping, embedding, image recognition, image generation, image-to-image transformation, style transfer, synthetic image creation, automated retouching, generative extension, outpainting, inpainting, stylistic imitation, architectural simulation, rendering substitution or any similar current or future use.
No AI-based adaptation, modification, extension, reconstruction, remix, imitation, derivative work or visual addition may be made from, with, or based on the photographs of Julien Lanoo without prior written authorisation.
Any unauthorised AI-generated, AI-manipulated, synthetic or derivative image based on, trained on, imitating, extending, replacing or altering a photograph by Julien Lanoo shall be treated as an unauthorised use and as a violation of these Terms, without prejudice to any additional claims based on copyright, moral rights, unfair competition, passing off, false attribution, misleading communication, contractual liability or any other applicable legal basis.
Fotosound BV and Julien Lanoo do not authorise, supervise, approve, verify or accept responsibility for any AI-generated, AI-manipulated, synthetic, extended, recomposed, reconstructed, imitated or derivative image created, published, distributed or communicated by any third party without prior written authorisation.
Fotosound BV and Julien Lanoo shall not be responsible for any artificial intelligence additions, modifications, manipulations, extensions, reconstructions, synthetic versions, derivative images, misleading publications, incorrect labels, missing labels, hidden labels, insufficient disclosures or false attributions made by any third party.
The sole responsibility for creating, using, publishing, distributing, communicating, labelling and disclosing any AI-generated, AI-manipulated, synthetic or derivative content lies with the person or entity that created, commissioned, deployed, published, distributed, communicated or otherwise used such content.
Any failure to label, disclose or correctly identify AI-generated or AI-manipulated content shall be the sole responsibility of the person or entity responsible for that content. Such failure shall not create any liability for Fotosound BV or Julien Lanoo, and shall not imply that Fotosound BV or Julien Lanoo approved, authorised, verified or endorsed the content.
For the avoidance of doubt, the presence of an AI disclosure label does not legalise the use. Labelling an unauthorised AI-generated or AI-manipulated image as artificial does not create a licence, does not cure copyright infringement, does not waive moral rights, and does not remove the obligation to obtain prior written authorisation from Julien Lanoo or Fotosound BV.
8. No Scraping, Extraction or Automated Collection
Access to the website does not authorise any automated extraction of content.
It is strictly prohibited to use robots, crawlers, scrapers, extractors, automated systems, scripts, data collection tools or similar methods to copy, analyse, download, index, archive or reuse photographs, images, texts, metadata or other content from the website, unless prior written authorisation has been granted.
This prohibition also applies to uses connected with artificial intelligence engines, databases, visual recognition systems, image search engines and automated generation or analysis tools.
9. Original Files and RAW Files
RAW files, original files, high-resolution source files, working files and source materials are never provided, unless a separate written agreement has been signed by the parties.
The possible delivery of digital files, low-resolution files, high-resolution files or print-ready files does not constitute a transfer of rights or an authorisation to use the images beyond the applicable written licence.
10. Unauthorised Use and Compensation
Any unauthorised use, use outside the licence, use without credit, use with incorrect credit, unauthorised modification, use after expiry of the licence, use on an unauthorised medium, use by an unauthorised third party, or use for artificial intelligence purposes constitutes a breach of these terms and of the rights of Julien Lanoo and/or Fotosound BV.
Without prejudice to the right to claim higher damages, legal fees, investigation costs, evidence-gathering costs, administrative costs, interest and any other lawful remedy, the following flat-rate compensations may be claimed:
- unauthorised use: 500% of the applicable licence fee, with a minimum of EUR 500 per image and per use;
- use without credit: 100% of the applicable licence fee, with a minimum of EUR 300 per image and per use;
- incorrect attribution or false authorship: 300% of the applicable licence fee, with a minimum of EUR 500 per image and per use;
- unauthorised modification or damage to the integrity of the work: 200% of the applicable licence fee, with a minimum of EUR 500 per image and per use;
- use connected with artificial intelligence, scraping, model training, dataset creation or any unauthorised automated processing: 500% of the applicable licence fee, with a minimum of EUR 1,500 per image and per use.
Each image, each medium, each publication, each platform, each territory, each edition and each separate act of use may be considered a separate use.
11. Removal, Cessation and Deletion
In the event of unauthorised use, Julien Lanoo and/or Fotosound BV may require immediate cessation of use, removal of the images, deletion of files, destruction of copies, publication of a correction, disclosure of print runs or distributions made, and proof of deletion.
Removal of an image after notification does not remove the obligation to pay compensation, costs and damages due for prior use.
12. Accuracy of Information
Fotosound BV and Julien Lanoo make reasonable efforts to keep the information on this website accurate and up to date. However, no guarantee is given as to completeness, absence of error or permanent availability of the website.
Fotosound BV and Julien Lanoo reserve the right to modify, correct, delete or update the website content, including these terms, at any time.
13. External Links
This website may contain links to third-party websites. Fotosound BV and Julien Lanoo are not responsible for the content, privacy policy, practices or uses made by third-party websites.
No link to this website may suggest authorisation, licence, partnership, approval or affiliation without prior written consent.
14. Applicable Law and Jurisdiction
These terms are governed exclusively by Belgian law.
Any dispute relating to the website, its content, the photographs, copyright, licences or any use of the images shall be submitted to the competent Belgian courts, without prejudice to the right of Julien Lanoo or Fotosound BV to bring proceedings before any other competent jurisdiction in the event of infringement of their rights.
