In June 2026, a new project opened on the Vitra Campus to coincide with Art Basel: the Water Garden by landscape architect Bas Smets. The Water Garden forms part of a multi-year collaboration with Smets aimed at making the Vitra Campus more climate-resilient. Situated in front of Frank Gehry’s Vitra Design Museum, it enters into a compelling dialogue with the building’s dynamic architecture, creating new spaces for visitors to linger and stroll. Three large-scale sculptures by designer Hella Jongerius will be installed as a fountain within the Water Garden.
Dukagjini Publishing announces the launch of the Albanian edition of *Built Unbuilt*, the book by architect Julien De Smedt, with photography by Julien Lanoo. *Built Unbuilt* revisits sixteen years of architectural work, from the early days of PLOT with Bjarke Ingels to the development of JDSA and other design initiatives. Divided between built projects and unrealized proposals, the book offers a vivid look at architecture as both a constructed reality and a field of imagination. Published in Albanian by Dukagjini Publishing, this edition brings the work to a new audience and opens a conversation on contemporary architecture, urban transformation, and the ideas that shape both buildings and the cities around them.

As the institution prepares for a five-year closure dedicated to renovation and renewal, the series captures an intimate tranche de vie of the museum on the threshold of transformation. It reveals both the visible rhythm of its public life and the hidden choreography unfolding beneath its surfaces. The work traces the beginning of a new chapter for one of the world’s most emblematic cultural institutions: a transformation led by Moreau Kusunoki in association with Frida Escobedo Studio, with AIA leading the technical renovation.
