Location: Changsha, China
In Changsha’s Meixi Lake district, the Lucky Knot Bridge by NEXT Architects crosses the Dragon King Harbor River as both infrastructure and public promenade. Its looping red structure connects riverbanks, road, elevated park, and landscape in a continuous sequence of paths. Inspired by the Möbius ring and the Chinese knot, the bridge combines spatial complexity with a clear cultural reference. Seen from different angles, it folds, rises, and turns through the air, creating a vivid relationship between movement, water, and the city around it. The result is a pedestrian landmark that gives the surrounding landscape a strong architectural rhythm and a memorable civic presence.
