The High Line transforms an abandoned elevated railway on Manhattan’s West Side into a linear public park. Designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro in collaboration with James Corner Field Operations and Piet Oudolf, it turns infrastructure into a new way of moving through the city.
Its paths, planting, seating, and retained rail traces set up a careful balance between urban memory and everyday public life. Suspended above the streets, the park offers a slower view of New York, where vegetation, architecture, and the city’s industrial past remain closely connected.
