Grand Ring

Sou Fujimoto’s Grand Ring at Expo 2025 Osaka is a vast timber structure that shapes the site as both landmark and passage. The circular form frames movement, meeting, and long views across Yumeshima, while the warm grain of the wood contrasts with the scale and precision of the engineering. The project brings together contemporary construction and Japanese timber traditions in a structure that is as much promenade as shelter, giving the Expo a clear spatial center and a distinctive visual rhythm.
