Location: Dunkirk, France
The Banc Vert project combines a school complex with a neighbourhood centre within the urban renewal of Dunkirk’s Louis XIV–Banc Vert district. Organised as a soft elliptical form around a central courtyard, the building maintains a close relationship between classrooms, shared facilities, landscape and public space. A landscaped agora marks the main entrance, while community rooms, gardens and elevated outdoor spaces create places for encounter between pupils, residents and the wider neighbourhood. Set within a one-hectare wooded site, the project preserves and strengthens the existing landscape through bio-based materials and timber façades finished with linseed-oil paint.
