Chelles Municipal Gymnasium

The Chelles Municipal Gymnasium is conceived as both a sports facility and a new civic landmark in the city centre. Its L-shaped plan defines a public square and pedestrian route between the town hall, school, park and contemporary art centre. A double façade of glass and copper brings natural light into the sports hall while reflecting the surrounding buildings, allowing the architecture to shift between a strong urban presence by day and a luminous public beacon at night.
