MOCAPE brings together the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Planning Exhibition within one expressive building in Shenzhen. Designed by COOP HIMMELB(L)AU, the project combines generous public halls, exhibition spaces, an auditorium, and shared circulation into a single architectural figure that is both civic and sculptural.
The building’s transparent surfaces, shifting volumes, and column-free interiors create a strong sense of movement between interior and city. Light, structure, and program are closely interwoven, allowing the museum to read as a public place as much as a container for exhibitions. In a rapidly changing urban context, MOCAPE stands as a point of contact between contemporary art, planning, and Shenzhen’s evolving identity.
