Seoul National University Museum Of Art

The Seoul National University Museum of Art is defined by a strong and immediately recognizable architectural identity. Located on the side of a small hill near the entrance to the university, the building responds directly to the sloping terrain rather than imposing itself as an isolated object. Its basic rectangular volume is cut diagonally by the incline of the site, producing a form that appears both embedded in and lifted away from the landscape.

Raised on a compact central core, the museum touches the ground at only one main point, allowing the majority of the structure to cantilever over the hill. This tectonic arrangement gives the building a sense of suspension, as if it were hovering above the topography while precisely following its slope. By freeing the ground beneath it, the museum also creates a passage between the university campus and the surrounding city, turning the building into both a cultural destination and a connective urban threshold.
