New Museum Expansion

Location: New York, USA
The New Museum of Contemporary Art rises from a narrow Manhattan site as a stack of offset volumes. Each volume holds a different part of the museum’s programme, while the shifting arrangement creates terraces, skylights, and varied exhibition spaces. Wrapped in a translucent skin of perforated aluminium, the building reads as both solid and luminous, with a transparent ground floor that opens the museum’s public life to the street.
