Westside Courts

Westside Courts by Saida + Sullivan Design Partners is the rehabilitation of one of San Francisco’s oldest public housing communities. In the Western Addition, the project renews a 1940s residential complex while allowing existing residents to remain in a rapidly changing and increasingly expensive neighbourhood.

The renovation updates 136 homes with new interiors, improved accessibility, upgraded services, and better environmental performance. Hard concrete areas are softened with landscaping, playgrounds, picnic spaces, and shared amenities, bringing a more generous everyday life to the site.

Rather than replacing the original buildings, the project works with their existing International Style character. Colour, landscape, and careful upgrades bring new clarity to the complex while preserving its role as affordable housing in the city.
