Tsinghua Ocean Center

Located at the eastern edge of Tsinghua University’s graduate campus in Shenzhen Xili University Town, the Tsinghua Ocean Center was designed by OPEN Architecture for the university’s newly established deep-ocean research base. Combining laboratories and offices, the building rethinks the research facility as a more open and social part of campus life. Its vertical organization creates shared spaces, terraces, and informal places of encounter, bringing light, air, and movement into a dense academic programme.
