Independence Square is the second biggest public square in the world, after Tiananmen Square in China. Commissioned by Kwame Nkrumah on the occasion of Queen Elizabeth II’s visit in 1961, it hosts every year the 6th of March National Day Parade, filling the Ghanaian colourful seats with around 300 000 visitors.
