Structure Belvédère

Built on the former steelworks of Belval in Esch-sur-Alzette, Structure Belvédère by Inessa Hansch Architecte transforms industrial memory into a new public landscape for the University of Luxembourg’s science campus. Raised to the level of the old blast furnace platforms, the project creates elevated places for walking, meeting, resting, and looking across the site.

Composed of white-lacquered metal modules, the structure forms a sequence of walkways, stairs, arcades, alcoves, and belvederes. It activates the campus in three dimensions, framing entrances and guiding movement while offering unexpected viewpoints over the industrial remains, the university, and the changing city around them.
