Groupe Scolaire La Pomme de Pin is conceived as a compact educational landmark at the edge of the agricultural plain of the Arc valley. Nursery and primary schools are stacked vertically to reduce the building footprint and preserve as much cultivated land as possible, while a sequence of courtyards, patios, ramps, galleries and suspended outdoor spaces creates a rich internal landscape for children and teachers. Openings in the monolithic white-brick volume frame views toward the surrounding hills, Étang de Berre and Sainte-Victoire, connecting the school’s protected interior world with the wider territory. Brick, concrete and timber give the building a tactile material character, while a wood-fired heating system and BBC Effinergie / BDM Gold ambitions reinforce its environmental approach.
