Location: Geneva, Switzerland
Set on the shores of Lake Geneva, House by the Lake by FdMP Architectes is shaped by its relationship to the landscape. Rather than imposing itself on the site, the house follows the slope and contours of the ground, allowing the lake and surrounding scenery to remain the main presence.
Two retaining walls trace the topography and organize the approach. They conceal the garage and technical spaces, form a courtyard, and gradually reveal the entrance. Movement toward the house becomes a measured architectural promenade, guided by the curve of the wall and the opening toward the interior.
A simple roof shelters the living spaces, while the house remains closely tied to the land around it. The architecture is quiet and precise, with wall, roof, path, and lake held in a restrained dialogue.
