The Volta Pavilion

Designed by DeRoche Projects and TAELON7 for Amoako Boafo’s painting Papillon Hug, The Volta Pavilion was exhibited at the Belvedere Museum in Vienna in 2024. Built entirely from timber recovered from a submerged forest in Ghana’s Volta Lake, the pavilion brings together craftsmanship, material reuse, and a precise folded form joined without mechanical fixings. Fabricated by master carpenters in Ghana, it creates an intimate setting around Boafo’s work while tracing a line between architectural form, local knowledge, and transnational collaboration.
