Amdavad ni Gufa
by B.V. Doshi and artist M.F. Husain

Client: Vitra
Location: Weil am Rhein, Germany
The Water Garden is part of Bas Smets’s long-term landscape transformation of the Vitra Campus into a more climate-resilient environment.
Set in front of Frank Gehry’s Vitra Design Museum, it brings together a rain-fed pond, aquatic vegetation, trees and a planted berm formed from excavated soil. The landscape supports biodiversity and helps shape the local microclimate, while offering visitors paths, pauses and shifting reflections across the site.
Three ceramic fountain sculptures by Hella Jongerius add a discreet artistic counterpoint within the planting.
