Moving together
Sangath, designed by Balkrishna Doshi in the late 1970s and completed in 1981 in Ahmedabad, serves as the architect’s own studio and research hub. The name Sangath means “moving together,” reflecting a design that integrates vaulted forms, terraces, water features, and landscape to create a dynamic spatial experience. Built using locally informed techniques and materials, the project brings together ideas of nature, light, and human interaction, and is widely regarded as an important work in modern Indian architecture.
