Amdavad ni Gufa
by B.V. Doshi and artist M.F. Husain

Location: Ahmedabad, India
Sangath, designed by Balkrishna Doshi in the late 1970s and completed in 1981 in Ahmedabad, is the architect’s own studio and research hub. Its vaulted forms, terraces, water features, and planted areas create a sequence of spaces shaped by light, shade, and movement. The project brings together locally informed materials and construction with a calm, layered spatial rhythm, making it one of the most significant works in modern Indian architecture.
